Obama sent six nominations to the Senate.

White House website:

THE WHITE HOUSE

Office of the Press Secretary
____________________________________________________________________
For Immediate Release March 10, 2009

NOMINATIONS SENT TO THE SENATE:

Sherburne B. Abbott, of Texas, to be an Associate Director of the Office of Science and Technology Policy, vice Duncan T. Moore, resigned.

David S. Cohen, of Maryland, to be Assistant Secretary for Terrorist Financing, Department of the Treasury, vice Patrick M. O'Brien, resigned.

Dana G. Gresham, of the District of Columbia, to be an Assistant Secretary of Transportation, vice Simon Charles Gros.

Alan B. Krueger, of New Jersey, to be an Assistant Secretary of the Treasury, vice Phillip L. Swagel, resigned.

James N. Miller, Jr., of Virginia, to be Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Policy, vice Christopher Ryan Henry.

John Morton, of Virginia, to be an Assistant Secretary of Homeland Security, vice Julie L. Myers, resigned.

I highlighted the name Julie L. Myers. Who is Julie L. Myers? Here's the story:

Myers, a niece of former Joint Chiefs of Staff chairman Richard B. Myers, served as now former DHS chief Michael Chertoff's chief of staff when he headed the Justice Department's criminal division. She rejoined Chertoff in 2006 and helped oversee ICE [Immigration and Customs Enforcement] during the Bush administration's failed immigration overhaul push. Myers resigned from her position. She became a target of questioning by the Democrats in her position when now former President Bush said that immigration law would be his priority in his first Administration. Myers had set records for three fiscal years in arrests of illegal immigrants with criminal records and those violating administrative deportation orders.
Hopefully, Homeland Security and ICE will be restored.

Sorry, the cat found this job title hilarious (or a sad commentary on English teachers):

Assistant Secretary for Terrorist Financing, Department of the Treasury

Now, is that for Terrorist Financing investigating or to finance terrorists? Now just who slept through English class to come up with that title!!??
