Barack Obama has arrived in Britain to attend the G20 summit in London ahead of his tour of Europe.
The presidential jet Air Force One touched down at Stansted Airport in Essex at 7:50pm this evening.
Police launched a major security operation around the airport ahead of the arrival of the aircraft, which flew from an air base near Washington DC.
Mr Obama and his wife Michelle were greeted by Chancellor Alistair Darling after walking down the steps of the Boeing 747.
They then boarded the president's helicopter - Marine One - a Black Hawk flown in from America, and were taken to Central London.
A small crowd had gathered in Regent's Park to watch the helicopter land, before the Obamas travelled in a convoy of cars to the American School in London, near the USAmbassador's residence.

They will have tea tomorrow with Queen Elizabeth at Buckingham Palace, for which they received etiquette lessons over the weekend. The Obamas will also visit France and Germany.

Looking forward to watching this visit by Obama and Michelle. What impression will the man with those big ears and that wonderful sweet smile make on the World? He always surprises me and that makes me smile.
Why didn't Dubya get etiquette lessons, he sure needed them.
