Obama to honor McCain, Powell, and Biden on Inauguration Eve

WASHINGTON — President-elect Barack Obama is planning to honor one-time rival John McCain at a dinner on the eve of his inauguration.

Obama's inaugural committee said Saturday it has planned three dinners across Washington to honor leaders who worked across party lines. Republican McCain, Democratic Vice President-elect Joe Biden and former Secretary of State Colin Powell, also a Republican, are set to be honored Jan. 19.

Obama says the dinners will honor Americans who put their country ahead of their political party. That bipartisanship is a central theme of Obama's campaign and transition to power.

Powell, who served in Republican President George W. Bush's Cabinet, endorsed Obama's presidential campaign over McCain's bid.
Read on.

On a side note: The dinners are just one aspect of the 56th Presidential Inauguration that demonstrate the President-elect’s commitment to bridging the bipartisan divide. The list of honorary co-chairs for the Presidential Inaugural Committee includes leaders from both sides of the aisle, including President George H. W. Bush, Senator Dick Lugar and President William J. Clinton.

I remember I didn't understand Bill Clinton talking to Nixon the crook. I wrote the White House and expressed my concern. Alot of people must have done the same as President Clinton explained " keep your friends close, keep your enemies closer". Now he also said Nixon was one of the grest Presidnets in Foreign Affairs so he went to him for advise. I learned to understand Bill's thinking.

Obama who is close friends with the Clintons learned that too. As he is celebrating Powell and McCain with a dinner party. Now you notice Sarah Palin isn't on the list and she will have something to say. Obama is in a snake pit with these Law Makers and the snakes are of both Republican/Democratic Parties.

I might order something to remember this day in history. I was young and didn't really get the history that was being made before oh I felt it but like most young people I was watching and living. Now I'm resting and can take it all in and understand this corner that we have turned. 8 years of living hell was enough for me.
