Since King George has the power to sign an emergency executive order in this crisis, why didn't he do that in the first place instead of having Congress be the decision makers? Is there a problem with Bush's executive pen. To the world and the world leaders, George Bush looks like a lame duck President with no control over his country and his own political party. Look at the past President?
Former President Gerald Ford 1976: Executive Order 11921: Allows the Federal Emergency Preparedness Agency to develop plans to establish control over the mechanisms of production, distribution, energy sources, wages, salaries, credit, and the flow of money.
Former President Ronald Reagan 1988: Executive Order 12656: Assigmment of Emergency Preparedness Responsibilities

SPB the reason is because this would help the American people. Look the GOP wants this country to be rock bottom when Obama comes in, the worse the better. We'll see more horror to come from the 7 years of the crime wave. Now the rats are on their own.
If you have a problem you never just let it continue and do nothing. I'm not saying this plan is the best but it's better then waiting for the next shoe to drop. I believe we should start with 150 billion and see if that works then adjust. But to sit back and do nothing will bring down the Market more. I respect investors here and overseas. Why would anyone invest with a Country run by Crooks.
only trouble is: a rescue is nice but the sour taste of preserving the wealth of bond holders etc at "taxpayer" expense is hard to swallow for the "little guy" and not so hard for the "bond holders". the age old battle of who votes and who pays taxes continues.
