What does the case of Gary White have in common with the Siegelman’s case?


We were first introduced to the selective prosecutions of former Governor of Alabama Don Siegelman and then Sue Schmitz. And now, we are introduced to County Commissioner Gary White.


U.S. Attorney Alice Martin charged Gary White with receiving bribes. My interest was not about Gary White’s bribery case but part of his case being tied to Don Siegelman case. In Harper Magazine, reporter Scott Horton showed that even the Mr. White’s prosecution was driven by political considerations. And it all had ties to the prosecution of Siegelman. The only difference between Don Siegelman and Gary White is that White is Republican and Siegelman is Democrat. Why is White’s case connected to Siegelman’s case?


According to an affidavit from Gary White's wife, Judy, law-enforcement authorities had sought to have White testify in the Siegelman case. . They wanted him to present certain testimony that would be damaging to Siegelman. Mrs. White said:
