King George on the defense: 'We have every right to replace US Attorneys.'

Asked about the US Attorney dismissals, Bush said, "The president names the U.S. attorneys, and the president has the right to remove U.S. attorneys."
"And on this particular issue, the one you're referring to -- believe it's the current issue of the U.S. -- eight U.S. attorneys -- they serve at my pleasure; they had served four year terms," Bush continued. "And we have every right to replace them."
Bush added, "I am genuinely concerned about their reputations now that this has become a, you know, a Washington, DC focus. I'm sorry it's come to this. On the other hand, there had been no credible evidence of any wrongdoing, and that's what the American people have got to understand. We had a right to remove them; we did remove them. And there has been -- there will be more hearings to determine what I just said -- no credible evidence of wrongdoing."
Here is where the Chimpster have been dipping too much into the liquor in regards to the USA firings. From proof from the emails dumped by the House Judiciary committee, they showed a pattern of a secret plan to target certain U.S. Attorneys for political reasons in secret. Secretly without explanation, eight attorneys got canned. And several of those attorneys were involved in corruption investigations targetting Republicans. The first public explanation of their firings was because of poor performance. Yet, most were among the highest performing US Attorneys in the country. Add in the fact that one of the eight was overseeing one of the broadest ranging and historic public corruption cases in US history (Cunningham/Wilkes/Foggo/Wade/Lewis corruption scandal). US Attorneys are political appointees by the Presdient but they are also public servants. Firing some of them for not demonstrating sufficient political loyalty creates a pretty clear set of bad incentives for the rest.

I heard about the Rovester protest. Looks like McRove didn't receive the love that he wanted.

Great article from Truthout.org. I am still waiting on Jason's latest article. Again, the Gerbil has the foot in the mouth to say that there was no wrongdoing in the USA firings. I smell the 25th amendment invoked for the Gerbil. I hope the Senate and House commitee do some digging into Timmy Griffin's resume. Griffin, Rove's buddy, gave out some false information about his prosecution cases on his resume.

Thanks for the heads up, Patriot Girl.

There so much going on with the USA firings that it is hard to keep with how many officials are on the list to probe from the House and Senate committee. Since you brought up about Griffin's resume, I saw his resume on the 3,000 + emails. I will look for it and post it on the blog. I appeciate your diggings into Griffin. :D
