McCain's Desperate Attempt to Panhandle For Large Donors

In a sign of desperation, John McCain is scrapping his small-donor fundraising approach to go after large donors and model his efforts on the Pioneer and Ranger fat cat approach of President Bush. It was just a couple of days ago that folks like Kos correctly pointed out that even though McCain did poorly in the first quarter, he still had a large pool of thousands of small donors who were able to keep giving all during the year because they were far from hitting their contribution limits. Now the NYT's Adam Nagourney reports Wednesday that McCain wants to relaunch his campaign with a major Iraq speech telling us everything is getting better, and ditch his small donors for the same fat cats he demonized when he pushed through the McCain-Feingold campaign finance reform measure. Yeah, that should work.
