John Edwards has released this statement admitting paternity of Rielle Hunter's child to NBC News:
“I am Quinn’s father. I will do everything in my power to provide her with the love and support she deserves. I have been able to spend time with her during the past year and trust that future efforts to show her the love and affection she deserves can be done privately and in peace.
It was wrong for me ever to deny she was my daughter and hopefully one day, when she understands, she will forgive me. I have been providing financial support for Quinn and have reached an agreement with her mother to continue providing support in the future.
To all those I have disappointed and hurt these words will never be enough, but I am truly sorry.”
Friends of John and Elizabeth say they are separated. Elizabeth has opened a furniture store.
Update: John Edwards is now in Haiti helping with relief efforts.

I often wonder when there is a pregnancy, especially with a high profile person, John Edwards, Jesse Jackson etc. and these guys obviously did not protect themselves against more than pregnancy, but these women are old enough to know about birth control...I mean...you have to wonder if...the desired outcome for these women is pregnancy. It's like Cheryl Crow and Lance Armstrong were together for a while, he said no more kids, she wanted kids, his next girlfriend gets pregnant......and Cheryl Crow played by the rules, ok use birth control until both want child. And now someone else did not play by the rules and she has Lance Armstrongs child, and I guess more than one now....
But seriously they say the more money, the more power, popularity guys have the more likely they are to cheat.........and there obviously is enough women out there preventing pregnancy.......
