Grand jury gives earlier indictments of Dick, Gonzo & other high-profile officials a second look



Remember the indictments of Cheney and Gonzo last year by then Willacy County District Attorney Juan Angel Guerra? Well, the case is still alive and well thanks to Guerra's persistance.

BROWNSVILLE — A Willacy County grand jury is moving forward with its review of allegations that a former grand jury leveled in November against a coterie of public officials and a prison firm.


"It continues its work," Special Prosecutor Alfredo Padilla said Wednesday of the panel he has been working with since late January.


The public officials the former grand jury indicted included former Vice President Richard B. Cheney, former U.S. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, The GEO Group Inc. - formerly called Wackenhut Corrections Corp. - and prison warden David Forrest.
