CHICAGO - Corruption-busting prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald has agreed to stay on as U.S. attorney in Chicago, U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin said Monday. "We are fortunate Patrick Fitzgerald has agreed to continue his service as U.S. attorney in the Northern District," Durbin said in a letter to Illinois congressmen.
He said he has established a bipartisan screening committee in each of the three federal judicial districts in the state. Similar committees were set up under the presidency of Jimmy Carter, he said.

I'm happy for Fitz because this is what he wants for himself. But I wanted him to reach the stars with his talent. He could be a Judge, Attorney General, Supreme Court Justice with the talent he has. I guess when you really like someone you look beyond even what they see. During the Libby trial I'd picture Fitz as a Judge hearing cases. Then with his brillant closing remarks I saw a Supreme Court Justice. Ok I also wanted him to be the Attorney General. But if he's happy being a US Attorney then I'm happy for him. But I can always dream anyway.
Let's hope he finally puts Todd Stroger and company on his radar during his next term.
