Another Boehner from Boner

Even though he pronounces his last name a different way, House Minority leader John Boehner (BAY-nar) has often been called out for his "boners."So much, that the Ohio Republican's "nick name on the daily radio talk shows is 'John Boner,'" American Chronicle's Gary Ater writes.

Jackie Kucinich writes for Roll Call.Boehner told the press, “They’ve decided to close the detainee base in Cuba without having any plan for what they are going to do with those terrorists who are hellbent on killing Americans, and then last week they released these memos outlining the torture techniques, and that is clearly a political decision, and ignored the advice of their director of national intelligence and their CIA director.

The bigger question is, what is the administration’s overarching plan to take on the terrorist threat and to keep America safe? The world didn’t suddenly become safer in January of 2009.”At Huffington Post, Ryan Grim writes, "While cable news outlets and major newspapers continue to use euphemisms such as 'harsh interrogation tactics' to describe the Bush administration's approach to intelligence gathering, House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) used a more succinct term Thursday: 'torture.'"

Grim adds, "Regarding the Boehner's use of the T-word, Boehner spokesman Michael Steel writes, 'It is clear from the context that Boehner was simply using liberals' verbiage to describe these interrogation techniques. The United States does not torture.'"

At his Daily Dish blog, Andrew Sullivan mocks Boehner: "The English language can fight back in the unlikeliest of places."
