Will the Toddler be hung out to dry in 2010?

Capitol Fax Blog:

Carol Marin
asks: Will Todd Stroger be hung out to dry in 2010? The answer is probably yes…

For the first time in memory, voters in Cook County are paying real attention to county government, what it costs, how well it runs, and what crucial services it provides, from medical care to running the courts.

The Regular Democratic Party formerly known as the Machine, meanwhile, is also paying careful attention to newly awakened voters like Feinberg.

In 2006, another reform commissioner, Forrest Claypool, came within reach of unseating then-incumbent John Stroger, Todd’s father. Claypool proved there was an embryonic but growing appetite for change in Cook County. Quigley’s victory last week proved even in a special, off-year, very low turnout primary, voters could make themselves heard.

The stage is being set for the 2010 race. Claypool will likely be back for a rematch.

Alderman Toni Preckwinkle, a loyalist of John Stroger, supported his son in 2006. No longer. She’s now running against him.

The head of the Regular Democratic Party of Cook County, Joe Berrios, is nothing if not candid. “If the election were held today,” he said, “it would be a tossup.”

The coming County Board race, with all the patronage jobs the president controls, is far, far more important to the party than any congressional seat. “I have committeemen who say Todd can’t win,” Berrios told me, adding, “I’ve told Todd he’s gotta reach out, he hasn’t reached out enough to them.”

Not only should the Toddler be gone, but commissioners, Gorman, Sims, Beavers, Murphy, and yes John Daley.

TGCN I was about to make a comment until read comment. Who are these people what's really going on. Now the name Daley has been around for a long time I remember that. As for Todd well he better hope AG Holder doesn't get more investions in the crimes done over the last 8 years in Illinois. Look Todd and Family could be going to jail with the other crooks. I told SPB when I have a 5 hour stop in Chicago while traveling back east I wouldn't know Todd if I saw him. I remember the Daly Family and if member serves me right it's not such a good picture. I will say my visit to Chicago with Peaches years ago was great and the city is so pretty. I did go to the top of the Sears Tower to overlook Chicago. I laughed when coming from the airport as there was a big billboard with Dennis Rodman with his hair changing colors. The taxi driver drove slow so I could see all the color changes. Ok I had a great time and the people were so nice.

Jackie,

John Daley is the brother of da Mayor Rich Daley. John Daley is a Cook County Commissioner, 11th district South Side of Chicago (my district) he is also the chair of the finance committee, his wife is from a mob family, he was a school teacher before politics, he has no financial background at all, and it's obvious. He has been running unopposed for the Commissioner post for years.
The others are also Commissioners, and oddly enough they all have South Side Districts, Gorman is the daughter of a Chicago Fireman, now she is the head of the Cook County GOP. Murphy and Sims were trying to get commissioners and their staff exempt from hiring practices, and have supported the Toddler too many times.
Beavers us the nut pictured in the picture SPB has posted, Bill Beavers has proclaimed himself "the hog with big nuts" that is why he is pictured as such. He was a Chicago Alderman with the Toddler, and came over to the Cook County (CC) board to help protect the Toddler, he is a second Daddy to the Toddler, and so is John Daley, they both take care of Toddler and make sure everyone plays nice with him. But this is a short synopsis, I could write a book.

Much appreciated for the breakdown Chicago Native. And should you write a book about this, the book would certainly surpass the books by Joe the Plumber and Palin and mostly the Gerbil's book if his memoir book hits the dollar store first.
