Ford issues statement on its plan

General Motors and Chrysler and raising the prospect of controlled bankruptcy for either company, Ford Motor Co. yesterday issued a statement outlining its position:

“We appreciate President Obama’s commitment to the U.S. auto industry. Ford is in a different position and is not seeking emergency taxpayer assistance.

However, we are taking decisive action to transform our business and win new customers as we launch an unprecedented number of high-quality, fuel efficient vehicles like the Fusion Hybrid and new global Fiesta. Ford already has reached new agreements with the UAW and has made progress in reducing its debt.

We’ll continue working with all of our stakeholders to be fully competitive with the best in the business.”

Ford is positioning itself to fit everyone's need with their only other company being Foreign companies. Now I hope Ford looks to have some plants in Ohio and Michigan so the auto workers will have jobs. It would be smart to hire expereienced layed off workers as GM and Chysler would have bigger problems then.
