This sort of thing won’t help Burris’ chances in 2010…
Just days after Gov. Rod Blagojevich accepted his party’s nod for re-election in 2006, a letter arrived at state Treasurer Judy Baar Topinka’s office seeking thousands of pages of documents Blagojevich could use as ammunition against her in their upcoming campaign.
The letter was signed by Roland Burris.
It was one of several requests Burris made to the treasurer’s office in 2006, a campaign practice known as opposition research in which candidates use public documents to question their opponents’ records.

Burris might have been low on the corruption list but he sold out to G-Rod and now has to deliver. This is just the beginning as if Burris doesn't do what he was ordered G-Rod will make it a short stay for Burris in the Senate. The people of Illinois were right they should have had a special election for Obama's seat.
Jackie, at this point legally Burris is in. Let's just put him in the Senate seat so we can move on with the new Illinois State Senate and Congress, and well hopekfully new Governor, Lt. Pat Quinn as impeachment goes on in Springfield.
As far as the rest of the State, we also have Rahn Emanuels Congressional seat to fill, (Blagojevich had it before Rahn, then he ran for Governor and won twice)
We also have Arne Duncan's seat to fill (Superintendant of the Chicago Public Schools) and our Mayor is still trying to get the Olympics.
But we need to get our trash out of the spotlight and focus on what should be a great joy from this State, we finally, in many generations have a President coming from our State, and this should be in the spotlight, not the other trash.
I am sure Obama and Durbin agree, Burris would be a good choice, but it is the circumstances around this appointment that put a dark shadow over it all. From what I hear Obama wants this to move forward, as there are enough distractions going on this need not be one of them.
