A gathering of antiwar and social justice activists set up Friday outside the Reno office of U.S. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, calling on him and President-elect Barack Obama to end the war in Iraq and bring U.S. troops home.
Just before noon, about a half-dozen people in the group set up what they called a "Wall of Hope at Camp Hope" outside Reid's office at the Bruce R. Thompson Courthouse and Federal Building on South Virginia Street.
The group held signs asking motorists driving by to honk for peace. Some obliged while others made negative comments. One member of the antiwar group waved an American flag.
"As a nation, we have elected a new president and have a new direction," said Xan Joi, who made the trip to Reno on Friday from Berkeley, Calif. "We need to bail out people and not corporations, and we have to end the war."
