Limbaugh’s Crazy Conspiracy Theory: Democrats Started The Economic Crisis To Help Elect Obama
Monday, the New York Times had an article about how right-wing talk radio is gearing up to aggressively go after President-elect Obama over the next four years. Rush Limbaugh demonstrated his commitment to this crusade today on his radio show by blaming Democrats — especially Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) — for starting the current economic crisis.
Here’s how Limbaugh’s conspiracy theory goes: Schumer caused on run on IndyMac bank in California this summer, in order to create a feeling of financial panic amongst the public. Democrats then capitalized on this panic with electoral wins in the White House and Congress. The purpose of gaining this power, according to Limbaugh, was to nationalize U.S. industries:
LIMBAUGH: Who’s benefiting? Aside from the people being bailed out. The Democrat party and Barack Obama are benefiting.
They got elected, they increased their numbers in the House, they increased their numbers in the Senate, they got the White House now, and they’ve got a crisis that people think can only be fixed with the all-mighty and powerful government interceding to save this or to save that, when in fact, the government is going to nationalize the automobile industry. It’s going to nationalize some banks. It’s going to nationalize the mortgage industry, and may end up nationalizing the automobile industry.

Bolton on humanitarian intervention: ‘Do it with your own sons and daughters, not with mine.’
Earlier this month, the Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto hosted the second in a series of so-called “Munk Debates” on public policy. This particular debate asked the participants if the international community should intervene in man-made humanitarian crises if the national governments involved fail to act. International Crisis Group CEO Gareth Evans and actor/activist Mia Farrow said the international community should intervene, arguing it has a “responsibility to protect.” However, former Bush administration war hawk John Bolton and Canadian military General Rick Hillier argued against. Bolton, in particular, offered some callous advice to those in favor of humanitarian intervention:
BOLTON: Now I recognize, that the motives of those who advocate responsibility to protect is well intentioned and I respect those who believe in it as a doctrine and I would simply say this to all of you and I say it to you with respect. If you want to engage in humanitarian intervention, do it with your own sons and daughters, not with mine.

Conservative of the year, hmm. pregnant unwed daughter...doesn't that wreek with conservitism? Or am I confused? Is it ok to get pregnant as long as you don't get an abortion? Wed or unwed, makes no difference. And what fantastic health care plan do those two young kids have? Hospital stays and deliveries are more expensive for teen Moms. Is she still covered under Mom's plan, heaven forbid a conservative use Medicaid, what they want to eliminate.
