In 2006, Department of Justice released a report of "An Investigation into the Removal of Nine U.S. Attorneys." On Monday, Inspector General, Glenn Fine, released his findings on the U.S. Attorney firings that recommended a Special Prosecutor in the case since Fine was blocked information by the same Justice Department and White House into former USA David Iglesias' firing.
The person who was named the special prosecutor by Mukasey is an acting U.S. Attorney. (see here). Mukasey said: "Therefore, I have asked Nora Dannehy to exercise the authority of the United States Attorney for the District of Columbia for purposes of this matter. In that capacity, Ms. Dannehy will report to me through the Deputy Attorney General." (see here).
However, Special Counsel Patrick Fitzgerald's appointment to the Plame matter was far different. Then Acting Attorney General James Comey's appointment of Fitzgerald was to "exercise that authority as Special Counsel independent of the supervision or control of any officer of the Department." (see appointment of Fitzgerald here). Fitzgerald's investigation into Plame was conducted independent from control of any officer in the DOJ whereas Dannehy doesn't not. Dannehy reports to Mukasey. In reality, Mukasey is the decision maker in the USA firing probe not Dannehy.

This is getting interesting. Now a Special Counsel can be an appointee who isn't reviewed for the job. Well she has a very little time to drop the case or it goes into the next Administration. Yes Musk Rat is doing the best he can to drop this case before Bush leaves office.
I might not know everything about our once great Legal System, there is one thing I do know.
BUT was put in because nothing is final or stays the same. It's that word that will bring Justice back and bring down the Bush Administration even after they have left office.
