What is going on with the Republican Convention?

There has been so much talk about what Obama is doing and the speakers for the DNC. I decided to find out the RNC, theme, and speakers since the media is not reporting this lately. Here we go.

Hackett to speak at convention
Chris Hackett had planned to watch the Republican National Convention on television. Now he’ll have a much better seat.

The Republican congressional candidate for the 10th District has accepted an invitation from convention officials to not only attend the four-day event, but also to have a speaking role.

Not only Bush and Cheney will be speaking but Mitt Romney will be speaking. And there is more:

Only three of the state's 12 Republican House candidates plan to attend the convention. Republican Senate candidate Dick Zimmer also will attend. Rep. Frank LoBiondo, R-2nd, and Chris Myers, Republican candidate in the 3rd Congressional District, will remain in New Jersey during convention week.By contrast, seven Democratic House candidates, New Jersey's two U.S. senators and an incumbent congressman not running for re-election plan to attend the Democratic convention.

Finally this:

"John McCain's campaign has asked a Hollywood agent to sprinkle some glitter over his anointment as the Republican nominee - while Barack Obama frets about celebrities stampeding towards the Democratic convention in Denver next week.

Even Arnold Schwarzenegger, California's Republican governor and former action movie star, has stalled on accepting a prime time speaking slot at McCain's convention in St Paul next month. He may even skip the event all together because of his state's budget crisis." Quotation from: Times Online
