Bush to award Rep. Lantos with posthumous Medal of Freedom.

And this is long overdue but why did it take Bush this long?

Thinkprogress:

President Bush announced he would award the late Rep. Tom Lantos (D-CA) with the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation’s highest civil honor. Lantos, who served 27 years in the House and “devoted himself to securing liberty for oppressed people around the world,” died from cancer on Feb. 11. His family will accept the award on his behalf at a June 19 ceremony.
