Feith: Only A-Holes Fret about Torture.

TPM:

It won't surprise anyone that the least sympathetic portrayal in Phillipe Sands' Vanity Fair piece is of former Undersecretary of Defense Doug Feith.

Not only did Feith play a major hand in promoting the myth of Iraq's ties to Al Qaeda before the invasion of Iraq, but he also played a major role in developing the interrogation policy for Guantanamo Bay.

Feith boasts to Sands that back in 2002, he "was really a player" in ensuring that Gitmo detainees would not receive Geneva protections. But when Sands asks him "whether, in the end, he was at all concerned that the Geneva decision might have diminished America’s moral authority," Feith got nasty:

He was not. “The problem with moral authority,” he said, was “people who should know better, like yourself, siding with the assholes, to put it crudely.”

This program of torture was set up in 2003 while President Bush continue to tell Americans and the World the US doesn't torture. Now this torture policy will be used around the world on US soldiers and Americans. Right now Americans could care less because American Idol is on. But when American men/woman/children are kidnapped and torture/raped don't look for the United Nations to step in. What goes around comes around. Americans had no problem seeing the pictures of the victims our troops tortured and killed. No problems knowing that men/woman/children were raped. No problem knowing that innocent people were sitting in jail tortured for years without any charges brought against them.
We read the Horror that Hitler did to the Jews and said that would never happen again yet this time it was the United States of America that committed Horror. For Generations the people of the World will remember how the United States became the worse country of the World.

Even now US Law Makers want to Boycott the Olympics in China. Yes it's said China is a country that tortures and doesn't give Freedom. Now how much of a joke is that now. Let's see the Bush/Cheney torture Policy check, the Spy Bill check check well that's no different. If the US is stupid enough to Boycott the Olympics look for the Chinese to withdraw their money from the US.
