The Wilkersons speak out on Countdown.

Last night on MSNBC’s Countdown with Keith Olberman, Brian and Dara Wilkerson — the parents of 2 yr-old SCHIP recipient Bethany — responded to the right-wing attacks that have been made against them. Brian said the family decided to speak out simply to help other families in similar situations:

She’s a Republican. And I’m an independent. You know, who cares what we are. We weren’t trying to be famous or trying to get anything out of this. We were just trying to show that SCHIP works. That was our whole thing. Because look at my daughter — she’s living proof. And if she’s fake and phony, then we’re lies.
