Iran's permanent ambassador to UN here Monday announced Tehran's strong support for President Hamid Karzai's puppet government, denouncing certain powers' efforts aimed at establishment of ties with Taliban.
Mohammad Khazaie made the comment at Security Council session, reiterating, ""Tehran has always denounced terrorist moves of Taliban group, strongly believing that a developed Afghanistan, free from terrorism and extremism would not only be of great significance for the Afghan nation, but also for the regional security, for the world, and for Iran.""
Khazaie said, ""In the framework of that general policy, Iran has so far spared no effort in assisting the Afghan people and government to establish a developed and secure Afghanistan.""
He added at the meeting that was convened to survey the latest developments in Afghanistan, ""Some foreign powers' efforts aimed at establishment of ties with Taliban has led to braving that terrorist group to conduct more brutal attacks against the central Afghan government and the innocent Afghan nationals.""
Iran's envoy at UN said, ""The foreign forces would eventually leave Afghanistan, but the aftermaths of adopting such wrong policies would remain lingering behind them for many years, and it would be the Afghans, the region, and the entire world that would keep suffering.""
Khazaie said, ""Iran has suffered greatly from Taliban's terrorism and in addition to the diplomats and the IRNA reporter they martyred in 1998 in Mazar Sharif, today, too, terrorist groups affiliated to Taliban penetrate every now and then through Iran's porous eastern borders and martyr our civilians and disciplinary forces, kidnapping some foreign tourists, as well.""
Iran's permanent ambassador to UN considered the lack of security and "terrorism" due to Taliban, Al-Qaeda, and narcotic drug traffickers' boosted activities, as well as the increased bandit groups' moves, as serious threats for the world and the region, side by side with the several folded trafficking of narcotics from Afghanistan as serious challenges for the entire world today.
He said, ""The Iranians have during the course of three decades hosted over three million Afghans very hospitably, while the Afghan hostages have inflicted heavy and special losses against our country and nation during the said period.""

Iran knows where the problems are and what side of the fense they should be on with issues, but by listening to American Media you would think that Iran shares no common views on anything with Us.
Yes, Iran has always denounced the Taliban, going all the way to 1996, *BUT*, the Kavkaz Center Web site cannot be trusted 100%. A couple of years ago the FSB shut it down in Sweden, set up fake ones, hoping to catch Chechens and other people Russia doesn't like using it. Some buddies of mine were following the real Kavkaz Center Web site but I have not been in contact with them in a while to know which is real.
The Russians and Iranians will share some enemies in Afghanistan.
If memory serves me right Bush invited the Taliban to the US. He called them his friends and gave them a tour of Washington DC and Texas. The Muslin world are all related and will support each other when attacked by an outsider. Now yes they fight among each other but that's normal for them. Remember most of the marriages are mixed.
