Iran has given visiting Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki a warm welcome and its full support for restoring security in Iraq, on the proviso that U.S troops pull out.
After two days of talks, Iran said a pullout of U.S forces was the only way to end the violence. Prime Minister Maliki held the talks with Iranian leaders, including President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Vice President Parviz Davoudi, on his visit to Iran.
Iran has consistently denied accusations by the United States that it is to blame for much of the bloodshed in Iraq. Ahmadinejad told Maliki at their meeting that Iran and Iraq both have heavy responsibilities in the region, with Tehran convinced the future of the region to be dependent on victory in Iraq.
But he warned that security in Iraq depended on an immediate withdrawal of US forces, as the only way to provide security and stability in Iraq.
Maliki's talks appeared to confirm the increasingly warm relations that have emerged between majority Shiite Iraq and overwhelmingly Shiite Iran following the fall of Saddam's Sunni-dominated regime.
After the meeting, Maliki met the families of seven Iranian officials arrested in Iraq by U.S forces on suspicion of being part of a mission to disrupt the allied forces.
Maliki promised the families the Iraqi government would do all it could to secure their release.

Friends to the end. It's all over the US will be kicked out. The Middle East played the players. They knew Bush was an idiot and Cheney was greedy. The Saudi did the best job of acting and should win an Oscar. They saw the baby idiot Bush at a young age. Yes the gave him money for his oil project that he fail and they said he didn't have to pay back. It started then and now their the big winners. Yes the Middle East did well. One Trillion dollars Bush gave Iraq and what did we get for it. Thousands of dead soldiers and thousands injured then we're kicked out. This is what happens when you lie, cheat and murder.
In the end Iraq and Iran will always border each other. They have to learn to live side by side and outsiders won't be welcome.
