Can Gonzo be impeached?
The answer is yes.
University of Missouri law professor Frank Bowman has observed that Congress has the power to impeach Gonzales if he willfully lied or withheld information from Congress during his testimony about the dismissal of U.S. Attorneys. Congress has impeached a sitting Cabinet member before; William Belknap, Ulysses S. Grant's Secretary of War, was impeached in a unanimous vote by the House in 1876 for bribery, but the Senate fell just short of the votes necessary to convict him. Belknap had resigned before the House vote, and several Senators who voted to acquit him said they did so only because they felt the Senate lacked jurisdiction. [Click to enlarge Belknap's case].
Here is the pdf file of Belknap's impeachment.

So right SPB the fruit picker can be impeached. I really don't think Gonzo will pick a Special Prosecutor to find out what he knows happen. It's like asking the bank robber to hire an investigator to find out who robbed the bank. All this is to stall the indictments until Bush is out of office.
Here's how it works. Bush appoints a Special Prosecutor who does what he tells him to do. The Special Prosecutor say he doesn't see any crimes and closes the case.
