Scooter's Law License Loses Its Wheels

With four felony convictions, I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby is no doubt looking for a career change out of government service. But if there was ever any doubt, now there's real proof that Libby won't be falling back on his previous incarnation as a corporate lawyer any time soon.
The reason: the D.C. Bar suspended Libby's law license Wednesday. The temporary suspension is a result of his conviction last month for perjury, false statements, and obstruction of justice. The suspension is effective until the Board of Professional Responsibility decides whether to boot Libby from the ranks of the legal field for good.
Of course, Libby wasn't exactly a member in good standing before. The Bar suspended his law license in October 2006 for nonpayment of dues -- something he could have fixed by paying the approximately $180 annual fee.
Libby, a Columbia Law School grad who became a member of the D.C. Bar in 1978, was also suspended for nonpayment of dues in December 2001 and reinstated in November 2005.

You think Mark Rich is crying about that. Libby once an international lawyer making big bucks gave it all up to protect Dick Cheney. All the crimes will come out anyway, and Libby did all this for nothing. Libby wasn't a good lawyer anyway so nothings really lost. Now he can live off his wife as we know his books don't sell. In the future look in the want ads of your local newspaper and when you see little man needs someone to support him, that will be a Libby ad.

Won't he be in jail for a while? Enough time to study up for a new career, on the work release program.

That's right Jackie, he may write a book, if O'Reilly can have his last book in 10 printings already, that group of book buyers would certainly be good customers for Libby's book.

Chicago Native and Jackie:

Scooter will have to wirite a tell all book. But, I am glad that he won't be practicing law. That is one of the factor that worried me when he was found guilty. He made more money from practing law than his 3 jobs that he had at the WH.

Chicago Native:

Right now, Scooter is facing up to 10 years in prison for obstruction of justice. Now, the lying to FBI and making false statements, that depends. He could face up to 5 years with those counts. But, this is all up to Judge Walton in Libby's sentencing on June 5. Wells was very stupid by hookwinking Walton into thinking Libby and Cheney were to take the stand and putting the prosecution and the judge into 2 1/2 months of pure hell fighting over classified documents. If Wells didn't dupe the judge, Walton may go lighter on Libby because he has no criminal records. In this case, I have no idea. Walton may go really severe on Libby in sentencing. We shall see...
