In a purely symbolic move days after the White House and its GOP hatchet men led a smear campaign against Nancy Pelosi, Bush invites her and Harry Reid to visit and discuss Iraq. The White House makes it clear that these are not negotiations, since Bush feels that he needs to negotiate nothing when it comes to Iraq, no matter what delusions David Broder is still under about Bush after six years.
Reid and Pelosi respond by saying forget it, as they should. As Greg Sargent said today, the White House position is that Congress is invited over to see the president and agree with him; there is no other choice available. This from a man with a 33% approval rating on Iraq, while public approval for the Democratic Congress is rising.

The more this war (mess, tragedy) goes on the higher the approval ratings for people trying to clean this up will go as the one's that caused this really sad state of affairs goes down.
And the Gerbil's stubborness, denial, and dictatoship like decorum will seal his fate of any legacy.
