Chi-Town news: Accused spy charged with pretending to be with FBI

An Oak Lawn man accused of spying on Bridgeview grocer Mohammed Salah for the government now is jailed on charges he pretended to be an FBI agent.
Jawad Al-Arouri, also known as Jack Mustafa, is charged with impersonating a federal officer after parading around with a gun and using his phony ties to the FBI to try to finagle some $500,000 from an unnamed individual about to travel overseas, according to the criminal complaint made public Friday.
Al-Arouri, 47, was arrested Thursday in Hickory Hills. He appeared Friday before U.S. Magistrate Morton Denlow and was sent to the Metropolitan Correctional Center until a hearing Wednesday, said Randall Samborn, a spokesman for the U.S. attorney's office in Chicago.

More on the story.
