Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Patrick Leahy (D-VT) responds to news that Gonzales aide Monica Goodling will invoke the Fifth Amendment:
“It is disappointing that Ms. Goodling has decided to withhold her important testimony from the Committee as it pursues its investigation into this matter, but everybody has the constitutional
right not to incriminate themselves with regard to criminal conduct.
“The American people are left to wonder what conduct is at the base of Ms. Goodling’s concern that she may incriminate herself in connection with criminal charges if she appears before the Committee under oath.“
This is not a surprise by the White Office officials that are involved in the U.S. Attorney firing scandal to plead the fifth. What Goodling and others are not looking at is that the 3,000 + emails are now made public. And they will look guilty in the public eye by pleading the fifth..

Now we know the truth. As Monica takes the 5th she helps make it clear that a crime was committed. Now if the other staffers, Rove and Gonzo pick up that 5th defense it's all over. Remember Libby said he was innocent but never explained what happen so the jurors had to look at the proof to make a conviction. The truth is so much easier then the 5th.
