2007-03-29-Sampson-Durbin

Here's Kyle Sampson's testimony about suggesting to White House counsel Harriet Miers and deputy White House counsel Bill Kelley that they remove U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald.

Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL) asks if Fitzgerald was ever considered for removal?

Sampson says:
"On one occasion in 2006, in discussing the removal of U.S. attorneys... that I was speaking with Harriet Miers and Bill Kelley and I raised Pat Fitzgerald, and immediately after I did it, I regretted it. I thought, I knew it was the wrong thing to do, I knew it was inappropriate. And I remember at the time that Harriet Miers and Bill Kelley just looked at me.... I said, "Patrick Fitzgerald could be added to this list."... They just looked at me."

Durbin asks why he suggested that. And Sampson says he doesn't know why, that maybe it was just to "get a reaction out of them."

My thoughts are Sampson knew and was told not to involve Karl or Meirs. So now why would Fitz's name suggested right in the middle of the Libby Trial. Who would have an interest in getting him out. Who would want that trial to be dismissed. Perjury was committed today by Kyle and that recess was the reason. Now the White House thinks that Sampson stopped the interest in Karl and Meirs involvement. Lam is harder to defend as the FBI is involved.

Patriot Girl I stand corrected your are so right. Now Karl waited to late for that recess didn't he. Looks like the paid media, press and reporters like David Gregory will have to do a serious spin and lie with this one.

"Sampson totally implicated Rove, Miers, Gonzolas, and himself."

Jackie:

Patriot Girl is right. If you look at the email that I posted from Sampson on the USA firing plan, Karl Rove shop was mentioned and he did tell the ones on the email not notify anyone is Karl's shop. Yes, Sampson shot himself in the foot with his testimony.

And regarding if Sampson talk to the Gerbil about the USA firing since 2004, all I will say is that the email that posted speak for itself:

Sampson's email on November 15,2006. Subject: USA replacement plan. Sampson's said:

"Who will determine whether whether this requires the President's attention?"

That is why the GOP had to step in and disrupt the hearings...
