I will be posting on a weekly basis my analysis of the Libby trial that I have written for a website of German blogger, Waterflake. Waterflake.de is an international website with various writers from different countries in the world to share different articles concerning politics, social issues, environment, arts, and so on. Here is the article posted on Waterflake's website:
This has been a very interesting week in the Libby trial. And there was lot of great information of the Libby trial from the live blogging on the Firedoglake.com website. Both the defense and prosecution have an uphill struggle trying to find impartial jurors that will provide a fair trial. Some of jurors that were excused gave some critical and yet comical responses in regards to their feelings of the Bush Administration. Here are some of highlights from week one of the Scooter Libby trial:

As we look towards week two in the Libby trial and the search to find impartial twelve jurors and four alternates, let’s keep in mind what both the defense and prosecution are trying to present to the jury in the Libby trial. Fitzgerald’s side is simple: this is not about the war but a misrepresentation of a former White House Chief of Staff, Scooter Libby, who purposely lied to the FBI agents and grand jury investigating the CIA Leak case.
Fitzgerald’s goal is this: to present evidence and testimony that Libby collected classified information and passed it on to several reporters. This is very much cut and dry case for the prosecution. For the defense side, the defense wants create several scenarios for the jury in order to create a confusion: Libby was too busy and overwhelmed with National Security matters that he clearly can’t remember what he said to whom. Libby just clearly forgotten and didn’t intentionally lie or mislead the FBI investigators and the grand jury. Libby is not the primary leaker and so on. The defense’s strategy is simply to create a reasonable doubt in a few jurors’ mind that Libby didn’t intentionally lie or make false statements.

You have a lot of your hands of crime in Chicago to keep up with the Scooter Trial. You don't have to worry. This is just jury selection. The meat and potatoes will start when we have the opening statements..
