Rep. Bob Ney (R-OH), who accepted a host of bribes from lobbyist Jack Abramoff, has said before that drink made him do it.
Now his lawyer, in a request to the judge for lenience, repeated that again yesterday, and requested that "the Court specifically find that Mr. Ney’s alcohol addiction contributed to the conduct he has admitted." His lawyer added that "Mr. Ney would benefit from participation in the Residential Drug Abuse Program offered by the Bureau of Prisons during any term of imprisonment."
