WASHINGTON – Michigan Democratic Party Chairman Mark Brewer has received a letter from the Federal Election Commission which could eventually lead to a full-scale investigation into whether state and national Republican Party committees skirted contribution limits.
Brewer told the Free Press today that late last week he received a letter from the FEC indicating it had received his complaint filed last month and would let the state Republican Party and the Republican National Committee know he had asked the agency to look into his allegations of what the Democratic chairman called “a money-laundering scheme.”
