Commentary on Uncle Walter; Open thread.

CBS newscaster icon Walter Cronkite had and will be dubbed as "the most trusted man in America." There will be no one to replace his honest trustworthy of news reporting. For those that remembered Cronkite's journey of news reporting from announcing President John F. Kennedy's assassination to Vietnam War to Watergate scandal to the second space flight by John Glenn, and so on. Who would have that a young reporter named Walter, recruited by Edward R. Murrow would be one the most unforgettable newscaster of our time.

Let's not forget Walter Cronkite activism in causes that he believed in.
For example, Cronkite repeatedly condemned President George W. Bush and the 2003 invasion of Iraq.
Click here. It was a reminder of the Vietnam War that Cronkite reported when he said that the Vietnam War was unwinnable.

Although Cronkite died at the age of 92, he saw the drastic changes in journalism years after he left: the introduction of propaganda news. The
trusted man in American journalism dubbed to the public and the world of journalism was being slowly replaced with "Fair & Balanced";"We Report. You Decide";"The Most Powerful Name in News."
He saw unethical and overtly political practices at the Fox News Channel. In Robert Greenwald's documentary of Fox News called "OutFoxed," Cronkite said that when Fox News, founded by Rupert Murdoch, " was intended to be a conservative organization — beyond that; a far-right-wing organization".

As the Edward R. Murrows, Tim Russert, and now Walter Cronkite is gone, the honest journalism and tough reporting has been replaced with propaganda news and reporting from wingnuts like Beck, Hannity, O'Reilly, Coulter, etc., networks such as Fox News, MSNBC, CNN, and so on, and newspapers such as Washington Post that became widely known for breaking the Watergate scandal and Deep Throat has fallen into hiring right-wing writer that have a political agenda. What will become of the world of journalism and the honesty of reporting is uncertain. There are few out there with integrity.

The blogworld and bloggers have now replaced the media and the evening news since corporations have become the driving force financially and politically for the media and newspapers. One has to ask what will happen to real reporting. Thank you Walter Cronkite for your honest reporting. We only hope that honest reporting will be restored either TV, printed paper, or on the internet. Thanks for the memories, uncle Walter. And that's the way he was.

Yes, if only all journalist would aspire to what Walter Cronkite did.

Now they are so tabloid. Really, it is still like new news about Michael Jackson, each and every day, it's like a new discovery with this doctor.....this possible drug in his system, that possible drug, etc. enough already. This is not news this is Tabloid trash and it need not be tolerated by intelligent people.
