South Carolina AG ask SLED to investigate Sanford's spending

Knew this was going to happen:

COLUMBIA, SC (WTOC/WIS) - South Carolina attorney general Henry McMaster has asked the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division to begin a preliminary investigation into Gov. Mark Sanford's spending after the governor admitted to having an affair with a woman from Argentina last week.
McMaster says he wants a review of all of Sanford's travel records in light of Tuesday's disclosures.

"In light of the governor's disclosure of additional travel today, I have requested that SLED conduct a preliminary review of all Governor Sanford's travel records to determine if any laws have been broken or any state funds misused," McMaster said.

Sanford responded to the SLED investigation announcement with a statement Tuesday:

"We're pleased that SLED will look into this matter. There's been a lot of speculation and innuendo on whether or not public moneys were used to advance my admitted unfaithfulness.

To be very clear: no public money was ever used in connection with this. We believe the best way to put those questions to rest once and for all is for SLED to ask these questions, and we plan on cooperating fully."

Resign resign

He needs to resign like Spitzer did right away before more ugliness comes out.
