Six Flags declares bankruptcy

What a shame:

NEW YORK -- The amusement park company Six Flags says it has filed for bankruptcy.

The New York-based operator of 20 theme parks in the U.S., Mexico and Canada, including Six Flags Great America in north suburban Gurnee, said Saturday that the filing in a federal bankruptcy court in Delaware is part of its plan to reorganize and shed $1.8 billion worth of debt.

Company CEO Mark Shapiro said the move won't affect the day-to-day operations of the parks.

It is a shame.

6 flags in Illinois

A lot of people who salaries have not gone up and expenses (food, gas, utilities) have, this $200 bucks goes a long way other than on one day at 6 flags.

At least parking should be free here, but it's not. The cost of food, and it's not great, it very high.

Also people aren't seeing movies when they first come out, they wait for the cheap shows to get them right before they come out on DVD, and a lot just wait to rent the DVD.

Seriously I know a lot of people who used to go to 6 flags 3 or 4 times a season, and have not gone the last couple of years because it's a big expense.

Also malls are doing poorly look at what used to be a huge Chicago Real Estate management firm (specializing in shopping malls) all accross the country, they went from one of the biggest Chicago Firms to bankruptcy.
