The Chicago Tribune reports today that Rep. Mark Kirk (R-IL) is considering running for Illinois governor, saying his interest is the result of “so much corruption in our state.” Responding to reports that Gov. Pat Quinn (D) will raise income taxes to patch a crippling budget deficit, Kirk suggested shooting Quinn:
“I think that the decision to raise taxes by 50 percent in Illinois is political suicide,” Kirk said of Quinn’s proposal to raise the tax rate to 4.5 percent from 3 percent, coupled with an increase in the personal deduction. “I think the people of Illinois are ready to shoot anyone who is going to raise taxes by that degree.”
Last June, Kirk mistakenly referred to then-Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL) as “Osama,” saying that he supports a policy “where if we see Obama there’s a shoot-on-sight order.”

Kirk is a loose cannon on the front line for the Illinois GOP.
Some are referring to him as a home grown Alan Keyes.
Kirk has aspirations for a higher office, which he will announce early May. What's anyone guess? Senator? Governor?
Even Judy Baar Topinka, the GOP Rod Blagojevich easily beat with all the Feds all over him, because she is another GOP nutjob in Illinois, the lesser of two evils was Blagojevich, if that tells you anything about Judy Baar Topinka, and her Lt. Gov running mate Dillard (now DuPage County State's Attorney) he's a #%$hole. A thorning bush, not warm and fuzzy, and many skeletans in his closet, oh ya his druggie son, for one example.

These Law Makers you speak about have history that will hurt them. Oh as for Kirk's remarks about Govenor Quinn. Well the Termator raised our taxes from 7.75 to 8.75 per cent. Now in LA the rate was 8.75 now 10 per cent. Where does Kirk think he will get the money from? I read Gov. Stanford ran and won on his stronge support of education, now he's refusing the Stimulus money for education as thousands of teachers are getting pink slips. TGCN it's call say what ever necessary to get the job then toss all that out the window and get for yourself.

Jim Ryan, Blago's opponent in 2002, also muffed the Cruz case.
Illinois almost killed an innocent man on death row. One think that Orange Jumpsuit George Ryan got right is pardoning Cruz. His f'd up case is one reason why Ryan cleared death row (along with trying to get sympathy when he knew he was in hot water).
