After case tossed, Stevens' bar licenses remain clean

Ted Stevens the lawyer is back in business. Well, maybe not. But at least he will likely keep his bar licenses clean.

The Alaska Bar Association on Wednesday moved to withdraw its motion for interim suspension, and the D.C. Office of Bar Counsel is expected this week to seek the lifting of the interim suspension, which was was put in place after a jury found Stevens guilty in October on seven felony counts of making false statements on Senate financial disclosure forms.

The Alaska bar counsel, Stephen Van Goor, says Stevens’ lawyers opposed interim suspension but no action had been taken by the Alaska Supreme Court. “If the criminal conviction is thrown out, there’s no basis for the action,” Van Goor says. Stevens has been a member of the D.C. Bar since 1951. The D.C. Court of Appeals temporarily suspended his license in December.

Unbelievable. But then Ed Vrydolyak got off with more, and he plead guilty.

And no review for Gov Seigelman as per AG Holder. More justice denied. Not the change I voted for.

I don't think a lot of folks are getting the big picture of the Siegelman. This is not about Don Siegelman. This is about Karl Rove connected to the cases of Siegelman, Paul Minor, Gary White [who the prosecutors tried to force him to admit a connection with Siegelman and White. White denied that], Sue Schmitz, and others.

I did read Holder's vague statement on why he won't take Siegelman's case. And I realize the frustration from Siegelman and his family and the public on this case and about Karl Rove. But, Karl Rove needs to be accountable to all of the selective prosecution case and not just Siegelman. There are many other victims of Rove that need to have their cases dismissed.

House committee need to get Rove's testimony as soon as possible. That is why Siegelman's case is complicated. We still don't have Rove's testimony.

On the Stevens' case, the judge in the Stevens' case was not a tainted judge unlike Siegelman's case. So, it is Judge Sullvan that is pursuing the criminal matter against the prosecutors. In the Siegelman case, the entire prosectution team, USAO, Public Integrity Section, DOJ, Governor, Judge, jury, and other connectors to Rove need all to be investigated.

This case will be tested and so is Holder's words and position.
