Let's the groups deal with the Senator's who blocked help. These people are sick and if their voters don't remove them from office then they deserve what they get.
Wow the school nutrition program, school construction, head start/early start, Title 1, neighborhood stabilization, distance learning state research for education... not good for kids, fully eliminated
and all the law enforcement areas fully eliminated not good
Partially cut:
• $3.5 billion for energy-efficient federal buildings (original bill $7 billion)
***OK, they would have just spent it on themselves anyway.
• $75 million from Smithsonian (original bill $150 million)
******$75 million is still too high to begin with, the cat would be OK with $15 million. Charge everyone just a little bit more for gifts in the shops and in the food courts.
• $200 million from Environmental Protection Agency Superfund (original bill $800 million)
***This would have been wasted anyway.
• $100 million from National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (original bill $427 million)
***For what??
• $100 million from law enforcement wireless (original bill $200 million)
****Law enforcement has plenty of equipment like that, they need more people.
• $300 million from federal fleet of hybrid vehicles (original bill $600 million)
***Yeah, this is a good cut. Drive the cars they do own into the ground before replacement, replace at 150,000 miles at a minimum. Driving older vehicles often saves more money.
• $100 million from FBI construction (original bill $400 million)
****For what?
Fully eliminated
• $55 million for historic preservation
*****This was not a good cut. Americans already don't care about history.
• $122 million for Coast Guard polar icebreaker/cutters
****This is a GREAT CUT!!!! Global warming is doing that for FREE!!!!!!! :-(
• $100 million for Farm Service Agency modernization
***This is another great cut. Farming gets plenty of subsidies as it is.
• $50 million for Cooperative State Research, Education and Extension Service
***If high schools would teach home ec properly, we wouldn't need this type of thing (include teaching kids how to grow vegetables in home ec--have to make up for the cuts to school lunches somehow, see below).
• $65 million for watershed rehabilitation
****This could have been a good project.
• $100 million for distance learning
***This actually would have created jobs, and in education, not for overpriced defense contractors.
• $98 million for school nutrition
**Damn it! Are we going back to ketchup packages counting as a vegetable again?????
• $50 million for aquaculture
***What the hell is this anyway? Since when do fish have culture? Does someone send them to the opera or art galleries? Ha ha
• $2 billion for broadband
***For Pete's sake, the broadband companies would just steal that anyway.
• $100 million for National Institute of Standards and Technology
*****This is a good cut.
• $50 million for detention trustee
****????
• $25 million for Marshalls Construction
*****Would this be for the Marshall Islands???
• $300 million for federal prisons
***Prisoners don't need cable TV or the Internet anyway. They can read what's in the prison's library.
• $300 million for BYRNE Formula grant program
****????
• $140 million for BYRNE Competitive grant program
****??????
• $10 million state and local law enforcement
******Ummm, this is a bad cut.
• $50 million for NASA
• $50 million for aeronautics
• $50 million for exploration
• $50 million for Cross Agency Support
• $200 million for National Science Foundation
• $100 million for science
*****OK, this is going to sound like an oxymoron but cutting NASA is a good idea because it is not even remotely cost effective. Yet, we can't have too many cuts in the sciences.
OK, that is enough because that is a really long list.
Thank you Senator Kittybowtie for your analysis. Bottom line is that many program that been cut partially and fully will find their back in other bill Obama will implement in the future. Media don't understand that the economic stimulus bill is just a beginning to jump start the economy. Like Obama saide, the bill is not perfect. But, it is nauseating to hear some people in Congress and Senate to not focus on the big picture of the people's suffering of this financial crisis rather than bellyache about petty stuff in the bill.
Some of people in Congress and Senate are focused on urgent issues instead of important issues like the ECONOMY!
