USA Alice Martin’s office questioned in the Siegelman case.

It's about time!

Probing heats up as the Department of Justice investigates former Alabama Governor Don Siegelman's prosecution.

Now eyes are now falling on U.S. Attorney Alice Martin.

She heads up Birminham based U.S. Attorney's office, which also covers the Huntsville area.

While Siegelman is out of jail on bond, he's appealing his conviction on government corruption charges.

Martin's office is now under investigation for its prosecution of Siegelman.

We spoke to the U.S. Attorney following a press conference in Calhoun County.
She says contrary to what some say, her office's prosecution of the Alabama Democrat had nothing to do with any pressure from Republicans.

"Absolutely not! I mean we had people testifying as to then-Governor Siegelman's involvement. And as with any case, we follow the evidence. As somebody said, it's not about Democrats or Republicans. It's about a crime. It's about crooks," she said.
More on the story.
