Journalist Peter Elkind and film director Alex Gibney have teamed up to produce a movie and book about the former New York governor’s steady rise and rapid fall in the wake of the scandal involving Emperor’s Club V.I.P. prostitution ring, in which he was implicated as a client.
Book publisher Portfolio, an imprint of Penguin Books, has acquired the rights to the book by Elkind, now a senior writer for Fortune magazine. Elkind was the co-author of Portfolio-published The Smartest Guys in the Room, a 2003 bestseller about the rise and fall of the Enron Corporation.
World rights for the book were acquired by Portfolio publisher Adrian Zackheim from agent Liz Darhansoff at Darhansoff, Verrill & Feldman, according to an announcement from Portfolio books.
Elkind will collaborate with Gibney, who is simultaneously directing a documentary about Spitzer. Gibney won the 2007 Academy Award for best documentary feature for his film Taxi to the Dark Side.
Elkind and Gibney worked together previously on Gibney’s film adaptation of The Smartest Guys in the Room, which was also nominated for an Academy Award.

This should make some Americans happy as they can continue to attack Spitzer while our country goes deeper in recession, our troops die for nothing and the World watching just how dumb we have become. Now the joke is on the GOP and others as far as Spitzer is concerned. It's all about bringing down the name Spitzer. As for Eliot Ness to bad Americans never bothered to read this like it was much worse the Spitzers. As for the attacks on his Dad well little do Americans know must of the old music they listen to Daddy Spitzer is still getting paid big bucks for, plus his international law firm and of course the buildings he designed. Dumb poor people and other who are jealous attack the rich without even knowing they are the ones making the rich richer. So who has the last laugh. Prostitution was round from the beginning of time and will out last all of mankind. But as good American Christians we can forgive the Priest for hiring prostitutes and molesting kids that's different. I really never knew God made a perfect human being until I read the comments of what Americans had to say about Eliot Spitzer.
