Palfrey guilty in all counts.

Folks,

I received a text message from Jason Leopold this morning with the verdict. I am still in shock over this. I was informed that jurors found Ms. Palfrey guilty all of all counts. Jason as well as myself will certainly continue to follow the story.

BLT:

The D.C. madam, Deborah Jean Palfrey, was found guilty on all charges — including racketeering and money laundering — related to Pamela Martin & Associates, an escort service she ran for 13 years.

Palfrey’s attorney, Preston Burton of Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe, said he hasn’t done the math on her possible jail time. He said Palfrey is holding up, but “she just wants to be alone.”
U.S. District Judge James Robertson released her, saying she is not a flight risk. Her sentencing date is slated for July 24 at 9:30 a.m.
Update: A reaction from Jason from email:
"In less than 8 hours!! This is the 1st time racketeering charges were ever used by the doj in a prostitution case."
Update 2: From WTOP News:
Prosecutors showed no emotion as the verdict was read. Outside the courtroom, the lead investigator for the prosecution pumped his fist in the air, in celebration of the outcome.

Prosecutors urged U.S. District Judge James Robertson to immediately put Palfrey behind bars, arguing that the verdict was a motive for her to flee. Judge Roberston denied the request, noting that Palfrey has never missed a court appearance.
Update 3:
The judge today sealed records that would identify those women who did not testify.

I have studied and worked in the legal field. I met with a NJ Supreme Court Justice and have a childhood friend who is now a Assignment Superior Court Judge and this is a first for me personally. We have a case of Rico/Racketeering that law student have to study to understand. But the jurors in Palfrey case can understand it without any evidence presented and find her guilty. We have so many branches of law with special study. If you want a contract written you go to a lawyer who deals with contract law. If you have a Tort case you go to a lawyer who deals with Tort Law. Not one bite of evidence was presented to support the charges against only testimony on prostitution violations by employees. The Judge should have administrate Justice by stopping this circus. To hear Prosecutors cheer at a verdict shows their none professionalism. A miscarriage of Justice was done to Ms. Palfrey and anyone could be next. I will be writing the Bar Association and the Judge.

I loved the law but had lost faith with the Supreme Court stepping in with the Election. I followed Ms. Palfrey's case for over a year and now I can clearly say beyond a reasonable doubt we have no US Justice. Libby case was handled with the respect lawyers took the oath to do. It's not a happy time when a person is convicted of a crime and less happy when an innocent person is convicted for a crime they didn't commit. I watched Hurricane Carter go through hell with more lies and corrupt Law Makers, cops and lawyers. I just never thought I see that again in my life time to an obvious innocent person. Woman should be put on notice all could be subject to jail with or without committing a crime.
