What's Wrong With Mukasey's Appointment of Durham.

Durham is the lead prosecutor that Mukasey tapped for the torture tape investigation. Blogger wrote:

Problems within the DOJ's leaderhsip are much worse than you imagine!

Mukasey has dumped Morford

And some interesting info on this website on the acting DAG, Criag Morford:

· In Aug 2007, the President appointed Craig Morford to be second-in-command to Alberto Gonzales.
· As Deputy AG, Morford ran day-to-day DOJ operations and spoke nationwide as its public 'face.'
· The Press uncritically hyped Morford as a 6' 6" Dudley DoRight DOJ reformer who had nailed Traficant and Convertino.
· Gonzales praised Morford's "experience, leadership, character, and integrity."

· But in Dec 2007 Morford was suddenly gone, without a word of explanation.

· The new Attorney General had replaced him with an unknown Chicago law professor/judge.

· The Senate Judiciary Committee hastily approved the new Deputy AG before Christmas.

Another footnote on Durham is that Durham would report to Morford. And of course, there is a strong chance of Mark Filip being appointed as DAG to replace Morford. As
The NY Times points out: "Mr. Durham will report to the deputy attorney general, an office being held temporarily by Craig S. Morford. ..." So, actually, Acting US Attorney Durham will report to Acting Deputy Attorney General Craig Morford. Back to the question: where is Morford? According to the DOJ website, there is case in Michigan in which Morford is involved. It says that Morford is the USA in Eastern Michigan. Here is the press statement.
Click here to see the USA in Michigan.

Interesting. Who is really holds the USA position in Eastern Division in Michigan? And is Morford being moved into another position quietly in order to make move for Filip?
