This is the person whom Bush is going to replace as acting Attorney General according to CNBC on Legal Times website.
His name was so familar. I have to raise my eyebrow on this choice as the Attorney General. I had posted back on April 9, 2007 about Clement in connection to the USA firing scandal:
Who's in charge of how the Justice Department handles the investigations into the U.S. attorney firings?
Following the rules of succession at the Justice Department, according to the letter from Assistant Attorney General Richard Hertling, the guy in charge of all that is Solicitor General Paul Clement.
That means Clement was in charge of personnel decisions relating to Monica Goodling (in other words, it was his call to make her the first ever DoJ official to stay on the payroll after pleading the Fifth), he's supervising the Department's joint investigation into the firings by the Office of Professional Responsibility and Inspector General, and he's in charge of which documents are doled over to Congress and which aren't.
More from the posting.

Now a sitting AG will be called to testify in his part of the illegal firing of DOJ lawyers. Look how far Bush had to drop to get a lawyer all the others bailed out. I really wouldn't be surprised if Libby got a job at the Bush/Cheney DOJ office. Karn Hughes is still around doing nothing put her in the job she knows nothing just like Gonzales. At lease she could act like she's earning that big pay that Bush is giving her for doing nothing. Her trip to the Middle East to give woman rights back fired and they asked her to leave and never return. The surprise is it was the woman who kicked her out not the men.
