Who is Judge John D. Bates?

We have learned that Valerie Plame Wilson's civil lawsuit against Cheney, Libby. Rove, Armitage and 10 John Doe government officals were tossed by Judge John D. Bates. Here is a history lesson about Judge Bates:

John D. Bates was appointed United States District Judge for the
U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia by President George W. Bush in December 2001.

Judge Bates spent two years working for Kenneth Starr and the Independent Counsel's office during the investigation into President Bill Clinton, specifcially Deputy Independent Counsel under Ken Starr from September 1995 until leaving in March 1997.

Also in 2002,

Suit against Cheney task force dismissed:

U.S. District Judge John D. Bates said the case filed by Comptroller General David Walker, the head of the General Accounting Office, did not make a "compelling showing" on why the judiciary branch should get involved.

"Plaintiff's failure to produce stronger evidence with respect to historical practice leads unavoidably to the conclusion that he lacks standing to pursue his claim," Bates wrote in his 43-page decision.

Congressional Democrats have called for the Bush administration to reveal the contacts that

Cheney's task force had with energy industry leaders, suggesting those executives had undue influence on the energy policy that was released.

The Bush administration refused to provide most of the information sought by Congress, saying it was a matter of privacy -- that the executive branch can consult with outsiders in confidentiality.

It makes you wonder about this Judge..
