Libby: Life on Supervised Release

Crossreference Talkleft.com and FDL:
The Order is here (pdf). In addition to the general terms applicable to everyone, the Judge added two special conditions:
He shall maintain full-time employment, the circumstances of which shall be in the discretion of the Probation Department, subject to the court’s review.
He shall perform 400 hours of community service, “as approved and directed by the Probation Department.”
The standard conditions Libby will have to abide by include these (again, the full list is here (pdf):
the defendant shall not leave the judicial district without the permission of the court or probation officer;
the defendant shall report to the probation officer and shall submit a truthful and complete written report within the first five days of each month;
the defendant shall answer truthfully all inquiries by the probation officer and follow the instructions of the probation officer;
the defendant shall refrain from excessive use of alcohol and shall not purchase, possess, use, distribute, or administer any controlled substance or any paraphernalia related to any controlled substances, except as prescribed by a physician;
the defendant shall not associate with any persons engaged in criminal activity and shall not associate with any person convicted of a felony, unless granted permission to do so by the probation officer;
the defendant shall permit a probation officer to visit him or her at any time at home or elsewhere
the defendant shall provide access to any requested financial information.
Basically, Libby is living a living hell. He is being told what, how, and why to do something, His life is being controlled. I know folks want him prison. But, what a life to lead having the parole officer control your life. Scooter Libby will live his own prison from the outside. More analysis from me later...

Full-time employment? Even Wal-mart or McDonald's won't hire convicted felons. Is the Waste Management or the recycling center hiring?

Libby is a marked man: a convicted felon. He is marked man on paper and on his forehead. And you are right, no one will hire a convicted felon and he can't even practice law as a convicted felon. Libby is screwed every which way.

Unless Libby moves to Illinois whereas he'd probably get appointed to something in the government, although that would be in the front yard of the Rugby Man.

Speaking of whom, I caught the full Amherst graduation speech, including the question and answer session which was not included on the Amherst video link. It was on CSPAN II on July 4th. I was just lucky enough to catch it by surprise. Here's a scary thought: During the speech he said there are about 100K gang members in Chicago and about 13K police officers. There are too many gangbangers to incarcerate so they try to nab the worst ones.

Wow, that's a lot, kittybowtie. The gangbangers has basically claim Illnous as their state. Chicago Native has been filling in the potholes for me regarding the economic problems in Illnois. With no budget, no money, and job cuts, no wonder it is hard to fight crime in that state.

"Unless Libby moves to Illinois whereas he'd probably get appointed to something in the government,"

And that is true. Illnois now has the friends and family plan for hiring. Libby would qualify.

Yes, what type of full time employment could he get? Not excessive use of alcohol.....that's good advice for anyone.
I am sure there is a job for Libby at Cook County.
