Live Blogging Lord Black Trial: The Finishing Closing Arguments. Part 2

From Macleans.ca website:

The case for Radler

[Lead Prosecutor] Eric Sussman has now offered the most ingenious defence of his star witness:

"Don't you think if David Radler was 'just reading from a script' he would have done a much better job? Don't you think he'd have times and dates and notes for his telephone calls?"

Brilliant! So the very implausibility of Radler's testimony testifies to its plausibility. Just as the absence of evidence only testifies to the cunning of the scheme, so David Radler's lack of credibility is all the more reason to believe him.

Let's rock'n'roll!

Hmm. At the lunch break, three jurors told the judge that they'd like to sit late today in order to get the jury instructions out of the way and get on with their deliberations.
That doesn't sound like a bunch of guys who plan on sitting around in the jury room for three weeks.

Eric the Dead

Chief prosecutor Eric Sussman has just begun his "rebuttal" - the last word before the jury retires to decide the fate of Conrad and co.
"I think Mr Safer told you you were going to hear a lot of screaming and jumping up and down from me," said Mr Sussman, in the flat barely audible monotone of a man who's just had an elephant-strength tranquilizer dart fired in his butt and feels his eyelids getting heavy. He's sounding awfully subdued. I think he's been told not to be too cocky, and as a result he's sounding listless and lifeless.
An odd start.

The lawyers fighting for Justice are doing an excellent job. People who aren't in the jury box, but know all about the slick workings of Lord Black say he's guilty and those are his friends. Now Canada doesn't want him back I wonder how many friends he has left in the US with all his money gone.
