Enron II: Yes, Andy Fastow Has Mowed the Lawn

Surprise, surprise...

From Wall Street Journal:

Lawyers for former Enron CFO Andrew Fastow have asked Judge Kenneth Hoyt for leniency in advance of his sentencing next week, reports the Washington Post. Fastow pleaded guilty to crimes and agreed to a 10-year maximum prison sentence in exchange for testifying against Jeff Skilling and Ken Lay.

Court papers also cite letters from unnamed teachers, friends and relatives who say that Fastow has “stepped up to take responsibility” and has expressed “full remorse” for his role in the company’s collapse. The 44-year-old has apparently helped Hurricane Katrina victims and volunteered with at his synagogue, where he has mowed the lawn. Yes, that’s right, Andrew Fastow has mowed the lawn.
Lastly, the lawyers assert that Fastow’s plea inspired former WorldCom CFO to plead guilty and testify against his former boss Bernie Ebbers. Under federal law, victims of Enron’s collapse can sign up at the courthouse on the day of Fastow’s sentencing to express their own opinions about Fastow’s appropriate sentence.

IMHO, Fastow should be mowing the loans of all the victims that he screwed. And he does deserve to serve the full 10 year sentence of his crime!
