The cat watched "Prohibition" on PBS by Ken Burns. Al Capone would not invest in the stock market because he thought it was a racket. He did not lose his shirt during the Depression. He did charitable work, which I had no idea he did, like running a soup kitchen in Chicago.

Oh yeah, there was a lot of killing . . .

The documentary mentioned two key factors in bringing alcohol back. The women realized that Prohibition did not cut back on drinking, instead it made it worse. Secondly, the government wanted the tax revenue back because of the Depression.
