Legal Times:
Former Sen. Mel Martinez is leaving DLA Piper for a job as JPMorgan Chase & Co.'s chairman of Florida, Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean.
JPMorgan Chase & Co. announced Martinez' new position today, in a statement that said he will help the bank continue expanding in the region. Martinez and partners at DLA Piper could not immediately be reached for comment.
And there is more:
Martinez's role as a senior executive will mean he'll also serve on Chase's corporate executive committee and work with senior level clients including businesses, large corporations, non-profits, and governments.
For JPMorgan Chase, they will also land a former Senator who has close ties to the very structure that passes laws that regulate the industry.
