Citi, JPMorgan, BofA see over $1 bn UK bonus tax-related costs

NEW YORK: Three US financial services majors - Citigroup, JPMorgan Chase and Bank of America - shelled out more than USD 1 billion in the June Quarter towards employee bonus tax levied by the UK government.

Late last year, the British government had announced the bank bonus tax as part of its efforts to curb the excessive risk-taking ways of financial institutions, which was partly to blame for the global economic meltdown.
